Today we started content in Unit 1! We started by completing a performance task on Geocentric and Heliocentric theories and how they are similar and different. We were able to make models out of play-dough to show our understanding of both of these theories. Today we finished up our scavenger hunt in our textbooks and got our FIRST set of Vocab terms! Tomorrow we will have a lab over heliocentric and geocentric, so make sure you have watched your edpuzzle. HW: Heliocentric vs. Geocentric edpuzzle due TOMORROW Finish Vocab if you didn't in class
Today we had a guest speaker from Cobb County Water to speak to us about a yearly competition. If you are interested, I believe we will have additional information about the water tower project coming out to us soon. We also had a tad bit of time to continue working on our scavenger hunt in our new textbooks.

For the majority of the time, your textbooks will be left in the classroom. Today we took the SGM Pre-test for the county. We will take this test again at the end of the year to see how much your score will grow after being in 6th grade science. We also took a look at our first weekly article from earth week to see what happened around the world this week.
HW: None! Enjoy your weekend :) Today we got started on our bubble gum lab! We made a hypothesis on if the mass of the gum would increase, decrease, or stay the same after chewing it for 10 minutes. We will finish up this lab on Monday. HW: None! Make sure you are all caught up on edpuzzles, circle maps, lab safety scientists, and any signed papers.
Today we took a quiz over lab safety. Look for those scores in the grade book next week. We also created our own safety scientist to refer back to during the school year. Tomorrow we will be completing ANOTHER lab, so make sure you have turned in your lab safety contract by now.
HW: Finish Safety Scientist Today we got to make dry ice bubbles! Each student will be able to make these at the end of the year if you are able to complete all labs during the year by following lab safety rules. We also completed our toothpick lab or completed an alternative assignment if your lab safety contract wasn't turned in. HW: None! Make sure you are caught up on all signed documents and edpuzzles
Welcome back from your first weekend! Today we went over lab safety and the importance of following directions, using caution, and staying on task when completing labs. We also created circle maps to introduce ourselves as well as figure out how many times spongebob broke a lab safety rule.
