Today we took our Unit 4 pre-test and worked on our plarn! Some classes have gotten far enough to start hand knitting and crocheting our mats! The goal is to have your mat done by the end of the year, so keep at it!

Today we were able to take our Unit 5 test and turn in our Unit 5 folder. Make sure you take a look at your test grade, as we will be reflecting on it tomorrow in class.

Today we took a quick quiz over waves, currents, and tides. We also were able to work on our plarn a little bit today as well.

Today we discussed upwelling and El Nino! We also got to do our Salinity Lab if our textbook work was done from a week ago. The results were super cool, you should try it at home if you have a dropper! HW: Finish Salinity Lab Questions El Nino Article Questions We first added green salty water to clear fresh water. It sunk! What does that mean? We then added blue fresh water to clear salty water. It floated! What does that mean? Next we added slightly salty red water to really salty green water to the bottom and it rose to the top! What does this mean? Lastly, we added slightly red salt water to the middle of the really salty green water and it stayed at the top. What does this mean?
Today we discussed the two types of currents. We also took notes, watched a quick brainpop, and even had time to watch Bill Nye. HW: Finish your currents notes Work on Plarn Make sure you have NO missing work!
Today we FINALLY started making Plarn!!! Hopefully you got the hang of it and will be able to do this at home when you go shopping with the bags that are left over.
HW: Continue to make plarn! You will need about 60 bags in your plarn ball in order to make a mat, so keep cutting and attaching the loops :) |
