Today we went to the computer lab to work on our performance tasks and our web quest. HW: STUDY! Today we went over a brief overview of the Rock Cycle, filled in our visual organizer and a cross-word to help with some vocabulary terms. In some classes we even got to play Rock Cycle Jeopardy! Today we took our Metamorphic Quiz and also went to the computer lab to finish our performance tasks and complete a Skills Tutor Assignment. HW: Watch the Rock Cycle Video and finish your notes on the "Rocks and Rock Cycle Guide" notes sheet! You will need to write down your answers for this and save it in your Science Folder. 5. Make sure that your 'Classifying Metamorphic Rocks' sheet is complete. Make sure that you put it in your Science Folder :) 6. Get the word search from Ms. Dudek that you will need to finish over the break. Today we took our Sedimentary Quiz. Those of you that are NOT watching the video, it shows on your quiz. Both grades from the HW and Quiz are in ParentVue/StudentVue. We also looked at 5 metamorphic rocks and tried to see what their parent rock was before heat and pressure was applied.

Today we played a version of musical chairs in order to review Unit 1 and preview a little more of Unit 2. HW: Review Igneous Rock information in order to prepare for the Quiz tomorrow. I recommend watching the igneous rock video again :) Reminder: Performance Tasks #1-8 are due Friday! I must say, I felt like the luckiest teacher in the world today. Today we visited Ms. Taylor in the media center to do Career Cruising and also figure out our learning styles.
HW: Make sure you did the weekend homework of watching the video below and filling in the guided notes. You MUST have this done tomorrow. If you cannot watch the video, it is your responsibility to come early and watch it or watch it during homeroom. Remediation/Enrichment for Unit 1: Make sure you turn this in. If you did not turn in your remediation packet today, you MUST turn it in tomorrow. I will be letting parents know who opted out of this opportunity to retake the test tomorrow afternoon. Today we took our Rocks Pre-Test for our next unit. I think a lot of you remembered a lot about rocks from your 4th grade teacher (you probably want to thank him or her!) We also received either an enrichment activity or a remediation activity depending on what each student scored on the test yesterday. RETEST INFORMATION: (AC below an 80, Enhanced below an 80, On-level below a 75) You MUST have your remediation activity done on Tuesday in order to take the retest on Tuesday. An average of your first test and the retest will be your final grade for the Unit 1 Exam. If you are unhappy with your grade, make sure you do this! Today we took our Unit 1 Test over Natural Resources and Minerals. Unit 1 folder was due today so tomorrow you will need another folder for Unit 2. We also started a word search over vocabulary words for the next unit on rocks.
