Today we finished Dante's Peak and completed our flow maps, and questions, and discussion between causes and effects of volcanoes and also fact vs. fiction.

Today we started watching Dante's Peak and began our discussions and comparisons of fact vs. fiction with Volcanic Eruptions. What are some warning signs of volcanoes even though we cannot predict the exact time of eruptions?
If you are completing the alternative assignment, make sure you have chosen 5 assignments to complete from the choice board. These are due on FRIDAY at the end of class. You may use your textbook or the internet to help you with your mini assignments.

Today we got our Study Guide for the Unit 4 Test! Our Unit 4 Test is next TUESDAY! Your study guide will be due on Monday as we will go over it then.
Tomorrow: most of my students will be going on JA, if you are NOT you will be split up into a different Science classroom to complete a review assignment in order to prepare you for the benchmark we are taking when we get back from Thanksgiving Break. This packet is also due on MONDAY!
Friday: We will be finishing the review packet, if you didn't get one on Thursday because you were on JA you will have Friday to complete it and turn it in on MONDAY!

Today we took a quiz over Unit 4 material that we have learned recently: Continental Drift, Layers of the Earth, Plate Boundaries and landforms made by plate movement. We also got started on our 'Dessert' assignment for our menu project. We also turned in our performance tasks #5-8 for Unit 4 today.

Today we completed our 'Snack Tectonics' lab and got to see representations of the asthenosphere, oceanic plates, continental plates, and different boundaries!

Today we discussed the importance in density differences with the layers of the Earth. What would happen if all the layers had the same density? What would happen if the crust was the MOST dense layer?
HW: Finish the three postcards that you are writing to your friends/family to tell them about the three places you visited. Make sure you include how your landform was made (plate tectonics, what type of boundary, or erosion).

Today we went over plate tectonics and the different types of boundaries.
We watched a brainpop about plate tectonics and also filled in a chart to help us organize our thoughts. We will be starting a menu project later this week so we placed our orders, and we also played a quick game that helped us practice the different between divergent, convergent, and transform boundaries!
