Today we went over the continental drift theory! We acted like Alfred Wegner and tried to fit on the continents together for a puzzle. We used this information to make our own puzzle of Pangaea!

5 REP BUCKS will be given for each item turned in if you can get it to me by MONDAY. We still need the following items:
Fruit Roll Ups (NOT fruit by the foot)
Today we had a quick demo with cornstarch and water. You can try this at home: wet some corn starch in your hand. Squeeze and apply pressure and you will feel that it turns into a solid! When you let go, it will turn into a liquid. This models what the inner core does since it is solid.
We also took our Unit 4 Quiz 1 on the layers of the earth and watched Bill Nye.
HW: Complete your continental drift notes and watch the video below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIxYczmdz_E
EXTRA REP BUCKS: 5 rep bucks to bring in one of the following (will need by Monday!)

For Fun: Over the weekend, I was invited to go to North Georgia to see the difference in the rocks to find the different zones in Georgia (Like piedmont, coastal plains, etc.) The regions depend on what types of rock that are found in that area. It was the geologists job to find the line where the rocks change. We were able to look at a sample of granite called 'corbin' taken from North Georgia. It is VERY rare because it has blue quartz instead of white or clear. It also has LICHEN on it which is a form of chemical weathering. The pictures are below from the trip :)
Today we did a writing activity called "The Pebble in my Pocket." We used our Rock Journey Chart from yesterday to write a story about a pebble that went through the Rock Cycle.
