Today we went over soil composition and finished our notes. We also starting watching an awesome documentary of the lives of people who lived through the Dust Bowl. We didn't make it all the way through so we are still working on Day 2 of our activities in our packet. HW: NONE! (wow, I feel like I never say that!) Make sure you get your permission slip signed and money turned in by Wednesday 10/26

Today we went over soil conservation and we started on our Dust Bowl Activities for the week. Remember to keep up with the work that we complete in class. If you are not done answering the two questions for Day 1, you need to finish that tonight. It will make it A LOT easier for you when you start to write your essay on Friday.

Today we went over our scavenger hunt from yesterday and we took a quiz on weathering, erosion, and deposition. We also read an article in regards to the Dust Bowl. We will be looking closer at this event later next week! If you did not finish your scavenger hunt, you may use the pictures below to figure out which one would represent each of the things you needed to find yesterday.

Today we completed a scavenger hunt where we visited multiple places on our campus to look for evidence of weathering, erosion, and deposition. In groups, students were able to take pictures of this evidence, describe what they saw, analyze it to see how it happened, and give a detailed description of what it looked like. HW: Finish your scavenger hunt sheet. STUDY for your quiz tomorrow. You will need to know your weathering tree map!
Today we went over deposition as a class and did a matching activity together. We also made a tree map about erosion and finished up our stations. Tomorrow you may want to bring your phone because we will be taking pictures for a scavenger hunt tomorrow :) HW: Finish your stations! Homeroom: Continue to bring in box tops and make sure your parents have signed up for a time for conference week or have communicated with me that they feel one is not needed at this time.
Today we were able to discuss erosion, go over the notes, and watch the brainpop. We also got started on our Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition stations. We will continue working on this tomorrow!

Today we talked about Hurricane Matthew and how a hurricane is made very briefly. We will discuss this more during our meteorology unit. We also went over weathering, took some notes, watched a quick brainpop, and made our weathering tree maps. This tree map is VERY complicated so make sure you are studying it for the rest of the Unit. You will be expected to make your own without any notes later on in the Unit.
We also got our projects back. I hope that everyone compared the grade that they gave themselves with the actual grade that was given. A lot of you graded very harshly or you were overly confident. I hope that this experience was eye-opening for some of you :) HW: Erosion Edpuzzle Video https://edpuzzle.com/assignments/57f7ef26c30af2d91c194786/watch Finish your Weathering Tree Map (make sure you draw a picture for all the terms circled in red)
Today we discussed how to create exciting stories and how to add engaging components. I almost felt like I was a language arts teacher! We began our final draft for our rock cycle stories and turned them in. I can't WAIT to read them all as I know that many of you worked very hard to come up with a creative and intriguing plot.

Today we took some notes on the rock cycle and watched the rock cycle brainpop! We also started collecting evidence for our Rock Cycle Story that we will be writing in class tomorrow. We were able to go to different stations and roll dice to determine what would happen to us if we were a rock! Remember, you need this tomorrow in order to write your story, so do not leave it at home! HW: Finish your rough draft so you can write your final draft in class tomorrow. Homeroom: Bring BOX TOPS!! We need to win the fist competition in order to get doughnuts :) Also, please be sure to sign up for a conference time with your homeroom teacher and bring back the signed paperwork.
Today we discussed our Unit 2 Test in further detail and some were able to retake. Those grades have been changed in the grade book already. We also previewed some of the rock cycle and looked at a few clips of erosion and how it effects people in different parts of the world.
